P101 - BSc Econ Information Management (Single Honours)
We live in a society which is characterised by its developing need to gain access to information. The designers and managers of information systems, whose role it is to satisfy that need, face tasks of growing responsibility and complexity.
The aim of the degree in Information Management, is to produce well qualified graduates for a particularly significant and growing sector of the information sector. This requires an understanding of the business context and expertise in the design, development and management of information systems in corporate institutions of varying sizes from small practices to major conglomerates and consultancies.
Information management can be defined as the management of the total information resources of organisations - not only information held within a computer system, but also paper, visual and voice-based information. It includes an understanding of information technology and an ability to use it selectively to achieve objectives.
